What
is Bisbee and Company?
Bisbee
and Company is a full-service, virtual public relations agency
providing superior public relations counsel and
execution designed
to build brand awareness, protect reputation and deliver
return on client investment. Jennifer Bisbee, APR, founded the
consulting
firm as a sole practitioner in 1995 -- a time when home office
automation converged with an increasing demand for flexible
PR services. She named her business "Bisbee and Company," establishing
an infrastructure that could expand to include other senior
practitioners as client needs demanded -- a trend already incubating
in Silicon
Valley. Today, Bisbee has fully embraced the virtual agency
business model - an innovative approach that provides clients
with an
experienced team of consultants that can flexibly expand
or contract, depending
on the marketing needs of the client - at a competitive price
point.
The
Bisbee and Company team includes four partners with proven
track
records and more than 100 years of combined public relations
experience. While our core business is delivering exceptional
PR services,
we can expand our network to include an array of allied
marketing professionals
- from ad buyers to graphic designers - all unified to help
clients promote their brand and meet their business objectives.

How
is Bisbee and Company different?
Bisbee
and Company offers a number of distinctive advantages
that enable clients to maximize their communications dollars.
As a full-service,
virtual public relations agency, we employ independent
consultants with very little overhead, and can pass the savings
on to
you. Our fees are very competitive; in fact, Bisbee and
Company's
hourly rate
for its senior practitioners is comparable to what
clients pay most national agencies for the services of junior
account
representatives.
Secondly, our network of veteran talent means you are
guaranteed an experienced team that is committed to your business
- there's
no training of entry-level practitioners on your nickel,
no "revolving
door" changes to your account management team.
Finally, our "accordion" style
of consulting means we can expand or contract the team,
depending on your needs. Highly qualified professionals
are at your
disposal, but are only tapped when their expertise
is required. You aren't
subsidizing expensive overhead, idle time or other
costs that could eat away at your budget. It's the
best of all
possible
worlds!

What
is your approach to account service?
We
structure account teams by matching client needs to our
partners' skill sets. Our "best-of-breed" approach
enables partners to focus on areas in which they excel
and enjoy most - whether it
be strategic planning, branding, crisis management, media
relations, writing, event planning, executing speakers
bureau programs, collateral
development, project management or providing counsel and
client services. And, our flexible approach to consulting
means we can "cherry
pick" the very best aligned marketing talent with
the expertise required for the assignment.

What
media databases and tracking
tools do you use?
We
use Bacon's MediaSource as the foundation to build customized
client databases. Additional media outlets
and information
is supplemented through list prequalification, industry
publication review, ProfNet
queries and Internet searches, as well as ongoing media
relationships we have cultivated during previous assignments.
To track
publicity results, we employ vendors such as Burrelle's/Luce,
Video Monitoring
Services and Bacon's MediaSource, and perform online
searches using search engines and services like LEXIS-NEXUS
and
Dow Jones.
Every
Bisbee and Company targeted publicity pitch campaign
involves a media follow-up process to inquire about client
placements,
and results
are documented in customized reports.

How
do you structure your fees?
We
work on a fee-for-service basis, and deliver tremendous value,
exclusively using senior consulting talent at
very competitive hourly billable rates. We will structure
our
fees to best suit
client needs
and budgets. Our typical arrangements fall into two
categories: project-based fees, for assignments with a very specific
scope of service and timeline;
and monthly retainers. The latter is the preferred
arrangement
when clients want to make a long-term investment in
building their brand
awareness and managing their corporate reputation,
or if they have ongoing PR support needs. Typical contracts
are
for a
minimum
of
six months and cover an agreed-upon amount of professional
time to support a range of activities, including ongoing
counsel, tactical
implementation and monthly planning meetings to set
both short and long-range goals. Clients receive a monthly
invoice and
detailed
activity and expense reports.

What
exactly is PR? And what can I expect it to do for my business?
For
a practical explanation, think in terms of WHAT,
WHY and HOW:
WHAT: Your organization's success (or failure) depends on key "target
audiences" - customers, employees, vendors,
shareholders (if publicly traded), the news media,
opposition groups, and others.
Public relations is the management function that
creates and maintains relationships with these
target audiences.
WHY: Your
organization can only succeed if target
audiences know and have a positive opinion of
your brand, agree
to conduct business
with you, and don't oppose or stop you from operating.
Public relations builds awareness for your company,
protects its
reputation, and by
doing so, contributes to its bottom line.
HOW: Ah, that's where it really gets interesting. There are a plethora
of strategies and tactics
that we use
to create
and
maintain these
relationships. Dozens of strategies like media
relations, crisis communications and issues
management. And
a virtually limitless
number of tactics like newsletters, special
events, media tours, employee
web sites, position papers - and yes, that
work horse of the industry - the press release. Public
relations
employs
a multitude
of strategies
and tactics, only effective when they are tailored
to support an organization's business objectives.
And
one final word: PR is most effective when it is integrated
with other
marketing
initiatives,
such as
advertising,
so that your organization
is "speaking with one voice" --
communicating its brand and key messages
clearly and consistently.
